栄養カウンセリングと食事サービス
The Nutrition Counseling Service at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Stubbs Road aims to help patients achieve their health goals through personalized dietary guidance. A healthy diet that provides adequate nutrition is a key component of Adventist’s “total health” philosophy.
For more details, in-patients may contact us directly by calling ext. 8861 to arrange an in-ward visit by one of our dietitians. We also welcome patients referred to us via our out-patient department.
We are the first hospital in Hong Kong to adopt the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) as a guideline, dedicated to providing patients with the most appropriate and safest dietary solutions
- IDDSI is a globally recognized and standardized framework designed to accurately describe the texture of food and the thickness of liquids for individuals with swallowing difficulties, categorizing food and beverages into 8 distinct levels. Serving as a clear guideline, IDDSI enables healthcare professionals, speech therapists, dietitians, caregivers, and patients to communicate effectively, ensuring the accurate selection of food that matches the appropriate IDDSI level (as recommended by speech therapists) during meals. Our hospital has established a cross-disciplinary and cross-departmental team, including various specialists, nurses, speech therapists, dietitians, chefs, and dietitian assistants, to implement IDDSI. This initiative aids patients in safely enjoying their meals, offering them a delicious and secure dining experience.
Individual nutrition assessments
- Our dietitians conduct thorough evaluations to understand each patient's dietary habits, lifestyle, and medical history, allowing for customized nutrition plans.
- The nutritionist will conduct an initial nutritional health analysis for you, including a comprehensive assessment using body fat testing equipment. Based on your preferences and needs, you will meet approximately once every 1-2 weeks for about 30 minutes to review your meal plan, address any questions, and adjust your diet according to your health status and progress.
- Dietitians also offer information on takeout food, groceries, and nutritious snacks so that patients may stay healthy and happy whether they are at home or out.
- At every appointment with the dietitian, menus are adjusted based on the patient’s progress and health report to ensure a rich and varied diet.
Education and support
- We provide education to patients and their families on healthy eating habits, food choices, and the importance of nutrition in managing various health conditions.
- A balanced diet combined with adequate exercise can help patients maintain a healthy weight, manage the “three highs”, improve cardiopulmonary function, and more effectively prevent chronic illness. Dietitians teach simple exercises that patients can practice at home.

- Tailored meal plans are created to help patients meet their specific dietary needs, whether for weight management, chronic disease management, or overall health improvement.
