The heart functions as the body's generator, producing electrical signals that stimulate regular heart muscle contractions and rhythms. However, if the heart's signaling system fails or if there are transmission issues, the heartbeat may slow down. In such cases, doctors may recommend implanting a pacemaker to restore normal heart rhythms and ensure the heart beats at the correct speed.
Pacemakers can be categorized into traditional wired pacemakers and the newer wireless models. The choice between these options depends on the patient's specific condition. Recently introduced wireless pacemakers are compact and eliminate the need for lead wires, which helps reduce the risk of infections. Nevertheless, the most appropriate type of pacemaker is determined based on the patient's individual circumstances.
